These long distance relationship quotes are what I want to tell you so bad but never did.
When you are not around, our relationship becomes a symbol. You are now sound waves from the other side of the world, the notification that pops up on my screen, and the “in relationship” Facebook status that keeps me going.
When I couldn’t see you or feel the warmth of your skin, I get paranoid. Sometimes I wonder if you would think of me the way I think of you. There are so many long distance relationship quotes and text messages in my draft that I never sent. But here’s what I want you to know:
Bittersweet quotes for my long-distance lover
I wish you could see the stupid smiles I get when we’re texting.
When I have a bad day, when I feel like nothing else could turn it around, your text will magically cure it all. You almost never texted me “I love you”. But all your “cry with tears” emojis can somehow put a smile on my face. And that’s all I need.
I understand what I’m waiting for, so I don’t mind how long I will be waiting.
Being in a long-distance relationship is like running a marathon, except for that you don’t really know where the finish line is.
But for me, the finish line is not a date or a place. It is a name, your name. And I have found it.
If anyone asks me “what is hell?” , I would answer “distance between two people who love each other.”
Before you, I never knew I can be in a relationship without seeing or feeling each other. Funny enough, when it becomes the norm, people just adapt. No question, no nothing, almost like a surrender.
Does it mean our relationship has now become a cyber romance? I don’t know. But I know it’s about being with you. If it means having less in life but more in hearts, I’ll gladly oblige.
That, “You hang up first,” No, You hang up first” crap is really only funny the first two or three hundred times.
The most beautiful thing in a day is when my screen lights up with your name on it. It’s crazy how long we can talk on the phone.
The new pizza place I discovered, the bizarre student in your study group, the roller-coaster we’ve been on… Sometimes I wish time would stop right there. Tomorrow doesn’t mean that much when I have Today with you.
Being alone for so long that sometimes I wonder if I really miss you or am I just missing the one I am when I’m with you.
I miss the way I laughed at our inside jokes. I love the person who is so fearless when you were around.
Sometimes I force myself to be strong just like I would when I was with you. But if I can be that person, does it mean that I don’t need you anymore?
I was a night owl before you. Now I get up at 5 am just to call before you go to bed.
I always hate mornings. Forcing myself to be a morning person is a pretty dumb idea.
Now with so many time zones in between, it seems to be the only choice I have.
Weird how I hated going to bed early. Now knowing that I can hear your voice first thing in the morning leaves a sweet taste in my mouth.
I don’t want to spend the rest of my life texting, emailing snap-chatting and messaging you on Facebook.
I want to hold you, touch you and hear you whisper my name in the same space and the same time zone.
I wonder if any of the “digital detox” advocates have ever been in a long distance relationship. If they do, they would understand why we are glued to our phones.
Not everyone has the luxury to spend time with their loved ones in person. Sometimes the least amount of participation in each other’s life is the best we can do.
They think I’m crazy because I have been reading about teleporting.
If there’s really such a thing as teleporting, I will be training myself 24/7 to master it.
Imagine being able to see you whenever I want, no checking flights, booking hotels or traveling the miles. Maybe it sounds normal for most couples, but it definitely looks unreal to me.
I like the sound of your voice even if it’s from a thousand miles away. It keeps me going.
Is it me, or is it real that distance adds rose-colored glasses to everything? I never know hearing your voice lifts up my spirit so much. But now I do.
If we are never in a long distance relationship, I would never know I am capable of loving so deeply.
I might not be there with you. But I’m always there for you.
One thing that being in an LDR teaches me is that sympathy and mutual support helps any relationship to go a long way.
Just because I am not by your side, it doesn’t mean I care about you any less. Just like the old days, me and you, against the world.
I am jealous of people who get to see you every day.
I always wonder whether people around you find you attractive. I guess so because why not? I fall for you every day, even when we are miles apart. I can’t imagine anyone who sees your smile not to be blown away.
What they have so effortlessly is what I want so badly.
Last night I hugged my pillow and dreamt of you. I wish that someday I’d dream about my pillow and I’d be hugging you.
– Generose Relano
I wish when I roll over to the other side of my bed, it would be you, not the captivating emptiness. The day will come if I keep on hoping. I just hope that it won’t be long.
I hate the stars because I look at the same ones as you do, without you.
Will you ever look up at the sky at night and wonder if I am doing the same thing, thinking about you?
I never know “Good nights” and “Good mornings” could give me heart-attacks.
And getting your good morning message at 3 pm is hilarious and sad at the same time.
In true love, the smallest distance is too great, and the greatest distance can be bridged. – Hans Nouwens
Before you left, you reassured that everything would be fine. Things would be the same for us. I knew you were not so confident.
Distance is not the real enemy for LDR, but the loneliness, temptation and the lack of participation that come with it. But if we can’t avoid it, we embrace and conquer it. Remember, it is a challenge, not a death sentence.
Some of the toughest things in this world are to really want someone and not have them around you.
But I still consider myself very lucky, because the one I want wants me too. So if that means I have to wait before closing the gap, I am ok with that.
The wait does not bother me, nor does the distance that is cropping up between us. All I want is a promise and to know that your heart will never change.
I appreciate how distance grows us into a better version of ourselves, but I will kill to actually be with you every day.
When in doubt, I tell myself that this is not permanent and one day, we will close the gap. Please tell me that you feel the same way because knowing we are on the same page, I can survive one more day.
How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard?
– Winnie the Pooh
I have mixed feelings on the flight to your city. I am on the edge of my seat but can’t help rehearsing separating again in my mind.
I guess that’s how bittersweet love is. If we have never been in a long distance relationship, we would never be able to understand how much one day could mean.
The few hours I spend with you are worth the thousand hours I spend without you.
And that’s probably why hours feel like seconds when we are together, and seconds feel like hours when we are not.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, but it sure makes the rest of you lonely.
– Charlie Brown
If I have never met you, the empty room won’t feel so empty. You came into my life and made me forget how life was before you.
And the last one, if you are missing me the way I miss you, don’t forget:
I don’t cry because we’ve been separated by distance, and for a matter of years. Why? Because for as long as we share the same sky and breathe the same air, we’re still together.
– Donna Lynn Hope
