Happy Fitness Friday! I love when a Fitness Friday coincides with the beginning of a new month. It’s a great opportunity to start a 30 Day Challenge!
Each month I post an invitation for you to dedicate a few minutes each day to a fitness challenge. All of my 30 Day Challenges start slowly and increase in difficulty as the month progresses. Spending just a few minutes for this challenge every day for 30 days is an incredible way to build both physical and mental strength.
Previous 30 Day Challenges include:
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher and Certified Personal Trainer, but I’m not a doctor. Please consult with your healthcare provider before beginning or changing any fitness routine.
30 Day Plank Challenge
This month is all about those abs.
Planks are an incredibly effective exercise to strengthen your core. They also improve balance and posture and can even prevent back pain. All of these benefits can be achieved with just a few minutes of work a day.
Here’s a plank:

Always remember that working out should make you feel better, not worse. Honor your ability while maintaining enough effort to feel challenged. When planking, that might mean that sometimes you drop those knees. It’s not less of a plank if your knees are grounded for some or all of the allotted time. You do you without expectation or judgment.
Day 1 starts with a 30 second plank and over 30 days we’ll build to 5 minutes. (If you need some inspo, yoga instructor and all-around bad-ass, Dana Glowacka, holds the planking record at an astounding 4 hours and 20 minutes!) We can totally handle 5 minutes, right?
Let’s get planking!
